If you Can’t Handle the Heat get out a Battery Operated Fan
When you hear the words battery operated fan you might find yourself thinking of poorly manufactured, underpowered devices that could barely bend a blade of grass let alone give you any relief from the heat. They may fit in your pocket but the usefulness of these cheap devices to produce any degree of cooling is suspect.
Luckily a little bit of searching will turn up some real quality units suitable for a wide range of applications. You can even get a battery operated fan that has its own humidifier. When choosing a fan it pays to think about what sort of use you are going to put it to. Do you work in an office where you need a little extra cooling to get through the day or are you a camper who needs a way to circulate the air to stop your tent from getting stuffy?
If you camp regularly you have more than likely heard of Coleman who make many excellent models specifically for the camping enthusiast. For keeping the whole tent airy you can get a model that hangs in the center of the tent. Free standing ones are designed to sit on the floor to help keep you cool while you sleep on your camping cot. One of their models can run for 21 hours straight on a set of 4 x D cell batteries.
For those who like everything to have a dual use you can purchase battery operated fans that include a light as well. Most of these camping fans have an ingenious method of attachment. Powerful magnetic plates on either side of the tent wall enable you to attach it anywhere. For those inconvenient night trips there is a low powered night light giving you enough light to navigate your way in and out.
For a little more cooling power you might like to check out what’s available in misting fans. Misting fans achieve an extra cooling effect by spraying a fine mist of water in front of the fan blades. An evaporatvie effect helps cool your skin and the surrounding air. A technique similar to misting fans is found in Portable Battery operated air coolers. These work by having a fan blow air over a wet sponge creating cooler air through evaporation much the same as a misting fan.
Another advantage for portable humidifiers is they can have a beneficial effect on people who suffer from allergies. Humidity created by these devices helps to keep your throat and nasal passages moisturised and more comfortable. Unfortunately dust mites and mold also love a humid environment so too much use could potentially make your allergies worse. It is important to monitor your usage so you don’t create more problems for yourself.
